I've gamed for 25 or so years and the reasons for me have changed over time. When I was really young, I just flat out loved that shit like a fat kid loves cake. My girlfriend would have to be a gamer, and if she wasn't she'd get dumped.

I loved FPS games too, especially this one, but at some point it changed. I'm not sure if that's because FPS games are designed poorly so I just flat out hate them or if I've outgrown them. I also feel that as I've aged, I see way more fault in games. Little things like poor mouse input drive me up the wall. I now have way more drive than I have ever had in my life but I don't have it with games. I see it as wasted energy because I don't enjoy them enough, and in my opinion, to get great at things, you have to really love that shit. If the people here starting betting real money on themselves to play, I would love that so much and I would game all the time again. I don't know why they haven't. It wouldn't even have to be much, like you could bet $100 via a cryptocurrency or something. It's a shame that the people in this game are so broke. It's always meant that nick/digi/goober/me have been the only ones to put up decent servers.

I've always wanted to be different in this. I didn't want to be the guy that's good in 2002 but never heard of or simply crap in 2009. I wanted to be good for every year. It's easy to have a 10-0 run on a league and quit, especially if you're friends with the admin and kick any threatening team. It's not so easy to be top 2 for 15+ years running in multiple game types while also being ranked the highest at three other games (ut2004, gw, and worms armageddon.) Knowing my enemy was my only option for that to happen.

I loved the frag speeds in UT2004 4v4 TDM. It was such a weird game, especially how the frag speeds changed depending on game type e.g. 1v1 was much slower than 4v4.

I had a look at image upload sites, none I could find that do it like imageshack used to, all of them either don't let direct link or need to resister/pay. Seriously this is the first forum I have ever seen that doesn't have attachment uploads, seems rather primitive. Forums is how I locally host the pics to be displayed, 3rd party site always break forums as did PB on the other forum I'm on. Admin had to hack into PB and get all the member's albums and manually upload each of the few 1000s of pics. :x

If you link the site, I can code something to fix it if you want? That shouldn't be happening.

No, you havn't outgrown them, FPS are literally shit these days, they havn't made a decent FPS in over 15 years hence why all the hardcore FPS lovers all still play and prefer the old games like UT, this one obviously even if its not well known, quake etc..

last good game I liked was UT2004 and I still play it semi regular, UT3 and UT4 pre alpha are shite!

All the FPS games are pointless, boring, convoluted and just shit and made for babies. The gaming scene is so bad in the last 10 years I have started playing games before my time that I never played before as the options have dried up with new games.

Anyway, the main forum I'm on (nothing to do with gaming, well not much anyway)

https://pcmhacking.net/forums/index.php

Its phpBB based which is majority of forums I have been on. It hosts the images directly, we were using PB (photobucket) but the scummy site blocked off everyone's images and demanded costly membership to get access again. The site is that dodgy we found a back way in, clearing some cache and refreshing or something like that and it allowed anyone to access anyone's privet albums including the ones they blocked us out of. All good now, we got everyone's pics and manually uploaded to the forum so they are indefinitely preserved.

I don't do any 3rd part hosting of any files anymore unless its temporary as all cloud based services are flaky bs, leaned my lesson.

I just watched a 2v2 fame on warlords, the guns weren't showing and it seemed to have an audio hit marker sound, is this on PF? If i buy the game on steam, maybe i can play? I honestly think I can put up a good fight lol. What are the chances i may find people to play against?

You probably saw one of my videos. Most of my videos are on a Pure Faction server with a Dash Faction game client. Dash Faction is a much more simple patch that makes the game work on Windows 10. Just recently, I started using a special Add-on for Pure Faction that makes it work on Windows 10.

Right now I just record and haven't paid much attention to video quality. I think my YouTube channel has more videos than my VidMe channel and the files don't always have the same names. The YouTube video quality is higher. I am trying to get my VidMe channel verified so I can always have 1080p quality. I like it's user interface more. I also get more views on VidMe. It is easier to stand out in a smaller pond.

I am not sure if its worth the time to install RF and play matches. I play because I have a lot of time to burn and am willing to go through some of the bullshit that comes along with getting matches. I also enjoy more than just 2v2. I sometimes load up some run maps.

If you value your time, then 2v2's are not worth getting into. A lot of bad things can happen with private matches. There is a very long list of things that can happen, but one example we used to have 1 guy who would play 1 game, then say "brb." We wait 10 minutes, guy never returns and we just wasted 10 minutes of our time. I can usually get at least 1 day per week of RF matches. Sometimes that day is only 1 game played other times several. It is getting harder and harder with each month to get a game going. At this point, I am thinking about getting into a new fps game (for single player and multi), but I will probably start playing some of the old school style 2D games like Cuphead, Sonic Mania, and Shovel Knight.

I saw one old player install RF and then say he's uninstalling. He said something along the lines, "I would rather reminisce and remember my old memories of playing RF than create new bad ones." The guy was disappointed with public servers in RF.

If you are going to spend money buying RF, I think you would want to at least get something out of it. The only scenario where I can think of it being worth buying is if someone organizes a 32 player event and you plan on attending it.

people still play matches about 0 to 3 days per week, sometimes only 1 game is played and other days people stay on long enough to play several games.

interestingly enough, I saw 3 other hdkp members (osu, silent, and captain crunch) actually in RF the past month or so and make it 4 if we include DIRT and 5 if we include you posting on a rf forum.

Where is everyone? servers have been completely empty for the last 2-3 months.

Thought there would be a heap playing over x-mas holidays like last year where there was good 10-20 players in one server every night for good few weeks over the holidays.

Been checking nearly every days since start of December, not seen one person yet. Seems really odd?

Im mean the games dead, and were just down to the last few cells of life now. There is a new run map on the horizon tho, im just too lazy to make an event to play it. lol

Hahaha reading this thread gives Me goosebumps. I'm a
Second generation RF player it was the first game I ever played and I fell in love with it straight away. My dad started me off on RF when I was about 5 or 6 and I owe him for showing me the best game ever still to this day. Its sad that no one plays much any more some of my best memories where on maps he created like dinner in space (one of my absolute favorites) and Kiss's barn. I'm happy to see that you all share the same passion for the game. I just hope one day I'll see you all on the servers once again (and probably get my ass kicked again ahahah) and dad if your seeing this I laughed every time I saw your username *itch*
