Worth it?
I have a few friends that play (making the ability to create matches worth it).
I started playing quake seriously just yesterday, and got hooked. I love how fast paced it is, and the constant demand on the mind (rather than run mid with HMG, and kill the person there).

Depends how much you are paid, and I don't think most of Nicks comment applies to RF players--his brain wandered. Anyway, you need to pay the subscription to be able to play in most of the maps. I think it's worth it if you plan on playing the game a lot.
Regardless of how over-rated I think the game is, I still think it's one of, if not the best FPS currently available to play.
