This is the Mountain biome from mine and Phasmomancer's RFU8 Settlers of Catan map, extracted and converted into a stand-alone map. The theme for RFU8 was board games so we made a map based on the 6 biomes of Catan - Forests (Wood), Fields (Wheat), Pastures (Wool), Hills (Brick), Mountains (Ore), and Desert (Robber). (
https://www.factionfiles.com/ff.php?action=file&id=8229 ) The original map is huge, so only really works with 15+ players, so I'm slowly going through and converting each biome into its own map, which will work much better for smaller player counts.
The map has a day and night. It starts out as night with a snowstorm and after about 2:46min it switches to day and the weather clears up.
Changes from original:
- More respawn points.
- More items.
- The tunnels now teleport to the other side of the map instead of other biomes.
- Added a cave-in to one tunnel, to give a logical reason why players can no longer travel through it.
- Skyboxes instead of sky meshes, so the edge of the sky feels further away and ocean looks bigger. However, now the skies won't be blended with the haze.
- Higher resolution skybox textures.
- Darkened ambient light and shadows about 25%.
- Higher quality music.
- New night music track.
- Music doesn't loop anymore.
- Higher lightmap resolution.
- Made the haze a little thicker.
- Improved torches.
- Ambient fire audio added to torches.
- FPS should be fine on this one but added an option for players to disable the decorative meshes beyond the level bounds and most particle emitters, if they need a FPS boost. Activate by double tapping your use key at any time.

Notes:
- This map requires Alpine Faction v1.2.2 or newer (
https://alpinefaction.com ) to run.

Bugs:
- If you have your music volume setting turned all the way down before loading the map, the music won’t play, even if you turn the setting back up after loading the map. It needs to have some volume prior to loading for the music to work.
