This is an exciting small map, but I found 2 of the spawn positions made it more hectic and confusing than it needed to be. One such spawn is in the central chamber where most of the fighting happens, which is not a safe place to be. Another is in the left-most tunnel, and it directs you to walk right toward the enemy base (or detour to the fusion launcher). Playing it for the first time, I was having difficulty orienting myself or feeling like I had made a choice about attacking or defending when a good portion of my spawns were like this.
The other 2 forward spawns are more reasonable; there's one in the right tunnel and (a seemingly rare) one right before the central chamber (mostly obscured from sightlines by a barrier). These give you more of a view of the tunnels around which let you decide where you want to head. The upper sniping area, only really accessible from one path, technically allows you to traverse the central chamber along the sides, enter the opposing sniping area, then jump through a window to reach the flag on the other side, which is fun. I struggled a few times with the jump pads in the flag room. If you approach the flag from the upper tunnel areas, and you jump too soon (or walk off the edge), you can still land on the jump pad by the flag, but you won't be shot high enough to land back in the tunnel - you'll hit the wall and die in the lava below. It would be nice if the jump pad always shot you into the tunnel when you hit it. I think ending up where you didn't want to be is punishment enough, and things can still get messy if there are bodies in the way. |
