i sent you another pm about the 1st person mod.

just wondered since the game is active again on steam and has been patched up.

you might consider having a go again on the mod or at least post the info on how to get the 1st person view on your old youtube video. (if you can remember)

i'd like to take a bash but can't without knowing where to start.

i understand if they have busy lives, it would be nice to get a bit more info about some of the mods that never were.

tried all sorts of tinkering but can't replicate what he did...if only he didn't delete what he created :(
or post a guide. (time permitting)

so if you ever read this goober, please with golden coins on top post some instructions.

I want to learn. Ever since I saw the video and read that the game was originally 1st person before some changes to the camera were made, i had a dream of playing it differently.

It's probably the only game I always have installed, besides maybe farcry or doom :P

The mod in the form that was shown in my YouTube video was very buggy (as in... the player model's head covered the entire screen sometimes), and sometimes even crashed the game.

That mod eventually turned into my Zoomed In mod. Zoomed In is the closest to "first person" I was able to figure out how to implement in a stable form.

If you want to poke into this "first person RF:G" idea further, you may want to try messing with the parameters in misc.vpp\camera.xtbl as a starting point.

Thanks for replying, I've tried many times but haven't been able to replicate what you accomplished, it would help if you could point me in the right direction?

I've changed all sorts of number values but the camera won't budge. only changing distance like the zoomed mod moves the camera in out.

haven't been able to hide the player like you did, are you sure you can't recall what you changed?

I can't recall where the values were that I changed, but I can tell you I did not hide the player model. The camera was just positioned slightly behind the player's head as opposed to over the shoulder. This is why the bug came up where if you lean forward, the player model's head takes up the entire screen.

After that, I was trying to figure out a way to hide the player model, but didn't have much motivation to continue.

I reckon it could be done, it's a shame the values aren't the same in rfg as in armageddon as that has a working 1st person mod, only time it glitches is on ruin mode when you run you see his eyes, but nothing like a head filling the screen though.

if you ever happen to remember what you did to move the camera behind his head i'd be very grateful as it would be a starting point. for now i'll have to keep looking...
