I hate messengers, they are so badly coded. skype is basically spyware. aim is adware. yahoo??? gtalk isn't used. msn is bloatware. etc.

I think I am going to use email only again. No one is happy about this but w/e.

Hey Philip,

I agree. I haven't used a messenger in a long time. Although when I check my e-mail it says I am signed in.

;D

Also, you can have a gmail calendar in outlook. So if you have a calendar with a bunch of friends, the events can be read within outlook. I think that gmail calendars are great. You can attach assignments, documents and what not, all within the one event. You can then enable the document within that event to be edited by who you want it to be.

So if you made an event at 4:00PM 8/8/2011 with a subject of: please will you edit this writing for me. And you put in a document, just as you would with an attachment in an email. You can then put in xxx@gmail.com yyy@gmail.com zzz@gmail.com have privileges to see the event and edit the file.

It's good for writing work, and also, I believe it would be good for something like a gaming clan. You may want to write posts which are professional and concise. The best way to edit something, I believe, is to have someone else edit it. It's far easier to see someone else's mistakes than your own.

Due to how gmail documents are set up, they are fast, and you can see when someone is viewing/editing the file. With offisync, you are also able to edit the file within word/excel etc. Google cloud is a similar plugin but it's not as good in my opinion. If I ran a website where I was offering people advice on gaming, I think I would certainly have people submitting and editing posts, together. It's faster and it allows you to throw ideas back at each other.

Unfortunately, not many people are aware of how great google documents is at the moment.

With outlook, you can also choose an "overlay" option. Which enables you to have several calendars (see picture) but it will show up on the one calendar. Rather like a transparent image. Here you'll see an event from the green calendar, showing on the other one.

Although I don't really use email or messengers very often, I find that digsby does a decent job. I haven't really tried with all to many others, but I like it.

Is this thread about email now? Good, because I have a rant about email, but I'm a bit too lazy to type it all.

Suffice it to say that Outlook is too damn slow when dealing with multiple IMAP accounts, so I switched to Thunderbird, which is as slow as Outlook except it makes you THINK something is happening, when in reality it's not. I have Thunderbird synced with my calendar too but I really only use it for alerts (I don't like the GUI).

Maybe I will try the newest Outlook. My slowness experiences were with the last one (2007?)

My favorite email client/calendar is my phone :P

You're as shallow as you are ignorant.

nah im just not the 0.1% of people that need or actually use most of the features, let alone the new stuff for 2010

the rest just lightly use word, excel, and outlook, they would be fine with office 95

u like ugly shit LOL :$

I prefer programs which look less round and bubbly; however, this is all subjective and it's no way to form a compelling argument that one program is better than another. What people require from the program is also irrelevant.

Your logic can be applied to most arguments and it does not hold water. A faster, uglier car is inferior to a subjectively good looking car that reaches a maximum speed of 60MPH.

You're as illogical as you are shallow.

Nice job spamming the thread, it's nice to see that goobers admin skills haven't improved at all.

Quoting 2kool4skool

you keep using that word shallow, i don't think you know what it means :$

There's nothing here to support your argument.

Quoting 2kool4skool
p.s. you have bad taste

Impossible to prove as it's subjective - thus, an illogical claim to make.

Checkmate.

inb4 you pretend it isn't checkmate.

Many of the features in 2010 are better versions of 2007....features that the every day user will utilize.

0.1%...I believe you forgot students. A very conservative estimate would be that over 50% of users use the features that you claim no one uses (tongue twister there).

If you still do not believe me, well then, in the end it isn't my fault that you are incapable of using the features. It takes an I.Q. roughly that of a paper bag to grasp the necessary abilities, but hey, some people just don't have what it takes I suppose.
